Facts about CMC

Every day the outpatient department sees a total of 6,183 people, meaning it would take them around four days to see and treat every person in my hometown, and in four years they would treat every person in manhattan. To make the daily experience even more daunting, each person seen brings an average of four people with then to the appointment. They also perform over 60000 home visits per year.

The hospital has 2,695 beds. New York Presbyterian Cornell campus, where i work, has only 850, and even when you add Columbia the two campuses do not break 2000. The CMC main campus has 1290 doctors, 2481 nurses, and a total of around 8000 staff in total.

Just a quick reminder, India is a big country, running farther north to south than the us does from east to west. And this hospital in a relatively small town way down south draws patients from every state in India, even the northernmost. Patients even come all the way from Nepal, and they do so because of the hospitals sterling reputation.

The hospital daily running expenses is approximately 12 million Rs, or 24000 dollars, a little under 9 million per year, add another 2.5 million dollars for infrastructure and development. I'm not sure but off the top of my head i would guess that new York Presbyterian spends close to a billion dollars.
